Following the traditional Latin Mass can be challenging, especially when the prayers are spoken silently or in an unfamiliar language. Learning to Follow the Mass was designed to make it easier, presenting the Latin prayers with a word-for-word English translation directly beneath each word, so that readers can begin to understand the language of the Mass as they follow along.
Color-coded text distinguishes the priest's prayers from the responses, while rubrics, photographs, and illustrations help readers recognize what is happening at the altar. A handy reference chart provides cues for finding your place when you lose it, even during the silent portions of the Mass.
With its straightforward presentation, Learning to Follow the Mass is a useful companion for anyone wishing to follow the traditional Latin Mass more closely, whether young or old, beginner or longtime attendee.
NOTE: For those wishing to explore not only the prayers and ceremonies of the Mass, but also their history, symbolism, and spiritual significance, see Treasure and Tradition: The Ultimate Guide to the Latin Mass. This richly illustrated successor builds upon the same word-for-word translation method, adding extensive explanations, historical background, and much more.
